Day 216 - August 6, 2010

Read an article on this book in the NY Times Books Update section, and found it fascinating to contemplate all the free time I would have available to me if I stopped watching TV.

I look forward to reading this book soon.

Day 206 - July 27, 2010

I heard about this new playground built in New York on NPR today, and then came across these images online. What a novel idea for a playground.

Day 108 - April 19, 2010

In many ways, this blog has been a pursuit of incorporating higher-order thinking skills into my everyday life. The question is, have I succeed thus far? Most of the time, I feel stuck in comprehension/analysis mode.

Day 68 - March 9, 2010

Engineering By Design

An article I came across today which describes the use of improv as a way of collaborating and brainstorming ideas. Interesting.

Day 67 - March 8, 2010

I came across this book a couple of years ago. I took the Kolbe Index A included in the book, but never got the results because they were $50. Instead of measuring personality or ability, it measures what motivates you or drives you towards action. I thought about this book as I was falling asleep last night, and thought I would jot it down here to remind myself that maybe it's worth the money.

Day 35 - February 4, 2010

Feeling a lack of inspiration tonight, I decided to gather all my journals and notebooks in reference to Michael something's post on the notebooks he's accumulated over his 25 year career. Although I remember having a diary in grade school, I couldn't locate it in time, and went ahead without it. The earliest journal dates back to 1992. I didn't include the journal I'm currently writing in, so the image incorporates 17 years of journaling. I chose to only include journals that were completely filled, although I came across almost as many journals that were only half-filled. All in all, there are 34 journals/notebooks included, for an average of 2 journals a year.

There are some days that I feel I haven't accomplished much in my life, but it's nice to know, that in a way, I have something to show for the past 17 years.

Day 24 - January 24, 2010

I first learned about Mind Mapping in a graduate course I was enrolled in a year ago. They serve as an idea generation device, an organizational tool, and a memory tool. I've used them on several occasions, but never to a great extent. I'm re-sampling this software program called VUE, that works much like a mind map, so I'd figure I'd post it as today's entry.

Day 23 - January 23, 2010

I watched this TED video today, after not having seen it for a while, and aside from being struck by the content of the video itself, I glanced at his bio and was fascinated that his job description is that of a 'creativity expert'. How awesome a job would that be? I'm fascinated by the way people think, and by the intuitive process of creativity in general.
